PEARL JAM Performs VAN HALEN Medley In Hartford (Video)
October 27, 2013According to the Van Halen News Desk, PEARL JAM performed a VAN HALEN medley this past Friday (October 25) at Hartford, Connecticut's XL Center. It was during a 2010 show at the same venue that PEARL JAM surprised the crowd by playing "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love".
Said PEARL JAM singer Eddie Vedder at Friday's concert: "The last time we played here, in 2010, we played a song and we said it was the only time we would ever play this song. And it was the only time we ever played this song. But as soon as we walked into the back room tonight… I was, like, 'This is where we played that song! And, for some reason, I just really need to play that song again!' But before we play that song, he's [points to lead guitarist Mike McCready) going to play this song."
According to The Pulse Of Radio, PEARL JAM notched its fifth No. 1 record on the Billboard 200 album chart on Wednesday (October 23),as "Lightning Bolt" sold 166,000 copies in its first week of release to debut at the top of the survey. The band's 10th studio effort follows 2009's "Backspacer", which moved 189,000 copies to also land in the top spot. The group's previous chart-toppers were 1996's "No Code", 1994's "Vitalogy" and 1993's "Vs".
Although the first-week sales for "Lightning Bolt" are the lowest for any of the band's studio releases, it's the largest debut week for any rock album in 2013.
The band has also reached No. 2 four times, with "Ten" in 1992, "Yield" in 1998, "Binaural" in 2000 and a self-titled effort in 2006.
All 10 of PEARL JAM's studio albums have reached the Billboard chart's Top 10.
